If additional courses are requested, SVS can 

 

 

accommodate, however students or parents need to see your

 

 

guidance counselors.

Due to the upcoming state testing, the third nine weeks awards assemblies


 

will be held in combination with the fourth nine weeks awards assemblies

 

at the end of the school year. 

 

We do not want our students to miss instructional time in a class that is tied to a

 

state-standardized assessment.

ATTENDANCE POLICY CLARIFICATION - EFFECTIVE 1/4/16


After beginning bell @ 8:02  -  Unexcused Tardy
Before ending bell  @  2:30  -  Unexcused Early Checkout

After returning to school on Jan. 4th any Early Check outs will be documented as UEC (Unexcused Early Checkout).  According to our Student Handbook 4 Unexcused Tardies OR 4 Unexcused Early Checkouts constitute 1 absence.
  If a student has 5 Unexcused Absences within a calendar month they may be referred to a Study Team for Truancy.

Students coming into any class late will be sent to Tardy Hall.

Coaches - Please tell your players that any items, food OR money dropped off after 2:15 will be the parents responsibility to wait until 3rd bell (approx 2:45) and deliver to their child.

We are changing to this policy so that we have less class interruptions.

Thank you for allowing SMS to teach your child.

Message from Superintendent Scarborough...

Our Strategic Plan Steering Committee has identified goals
 within the following four key focus areas:

Just Take 20: An Exciting New Literacy and Family Engagement Campaign

In an effort to promote reading and everyday literacy in the real-world
the department is excited to announce the launching of the
Just Take 20 literacy campaign.

All Visitors to Campus will need to bring in their license.
SMS will be using the Raptor System which will scan your
license and print a visitors pass for you to be on campus.

Suwannee District Schools 2016-2017 Federal Programs (NCLB) now the ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act)/Title I Basic, Title I School Improvement, Title I Part C, Title II Part A, Title III ESOL, Title VI, Title X,  21st Century and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) planning meeting will be Monday, February 22, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. in the Suwannee County School Board Meeting Room, 702 Second Street, NW, Live Oak.  All staff, parents, community members, private schools, and other stakeholders who have an interest in the above referenced programs are encouraged to attend and provide input into the planning of next year’s applications.
